We’re not short of foodies in Los Angeles, with opinions coming in thick and fast from our friends in the City of Angels on all sorts of different places to enjoy good food.

We had two restaurants run by celebrity chefs make it through to our favourites. The first was Maude, named after celebrity chef Curtis Stone’s grandmother, it offers a constantly evolving menu which changes each month to focus on a new seasonal ingredient. The second is Catch & Release, a restaurants specialising in seafood, drawing inspiration from the East coast of America, here you’ll find dishes that wouldn’t look out of place in Maine and Boston. This is the best of New England’s cuisine, with plenty of lobster rolls, clam bake and scallops.

For those with a love of solid, good food, Steak & Whiskey does exactly what it says on the tin. Here you’ll find epic cuts of meat, whiskey cocktails and a classic and elegant ambiance. It’s not cheap, but the quality is so high that after a few bites you’ll understand why. Another favourite for great food and service was Ración, offering a vast menu in a tapas style, from small plates to large plates, allowing you to pick exactly what and how much you want to eat. For a real homely vibe, Jon & Vinny’s was our top pick. With a hearty Italian menu, it specialises in making you feel right at home as you enjoy pasta, pizza and meatballs.

Two icons of Los Angeles, Philippe the Original and Pink’s are also viewed as a must. The former serving its ubiquitous French dipped sandwiches, with roast beef, pork, lamb, turkey or ham nestled in a freshly baked French roll dipped in gravy. The latter has been serving up hot dogs since 1939 and has a great breadth to its menu, with plenty of celebrity configurations such as the Rosie O’Donnell, the Ryan Lochte and the Brando.

Los Angeles also has a love affair with the food truck, with plenty of these bright vehicles found scattered throughout the city offering cuisine from every corner of the world. Some of our favourites were the El Chato Taco truck, serving an array of Mexican classics, The Bun Truck, offering up Korean buns stuffed with a multitude of flavours, and the Free Range Food truck, which offers salads, burgers, biscuits and plenty more, a must for brunch. If you’re unsure where to find some good street food, the Farmers Market at The Grove is a great spot to try out some of this great food.

For something a little sweeter we’ve chosen two of our outstanding favourites, the first is The Pie Hole, offering an amazing range of sweet and savoury pies, including plenty of seasonal specials and great coffee. The second is Lette Macarons, which, as the name suggests, specialises in macarons and they really know what they’re doing. An outstanding array of flavours, again including those all-important seasonal ones, means that one, two or three are simply not enough.
