About the MLB World Series
Held in October every year, this major baseball event is the annual championship series of Major League Baseball (MLB) in North America, between the American League champion team and the National League champion team, and was first played in 1903. The 2016 World Series is the 112th edition of the Major League Baseball championship series.
As the team with the best record in Major League Baseball, the Chicago Cubs are the favourites to win the 2016 World Series, but they will face stiff competition from the Cleveland Indians who last appeared in the MLB World Series in 1997, and will be keen for the win.
The game is a best-of-seven matchup between representatives of the American League and National League and is held in both teams’ home parks. Since the American League won the 2016 All Star Game they will have home field advantage for the first match.
Dates
The first game of the best-of-seven World Series is scheduled for Tuesday, October 25 and the final is set to take place on November 2. The 10 participants and eventual matchups are gradually being determined.
