Delivering bulky concert equipment at short notice

In December 2021, a freight forwarder asked us to help fly lighting equipment from Florida to Puerto Rico, where it was urgently needed for a concert later that week. Organisers couldn’t source the equipment locally and it was too bulky to transport from further afield on a scheduled flight, so a private charter was the client’s best option.

Our Solution

Route: Miami > San Juan

Aircraft: Convair 240

We sourced a Convair 240 from a local operator we work with regularly. The cargo was too tall to fit through the aircraft door and inside the cargo hold, so we worked with the operator to reconfigure the way it was packed and loaded it onto the plane.

The client had planned to depart from Miami International Airport, but our experienced team suggested using the operator’s home base, Miami-Opa Locka Executive Airport. This made the charter more budget-friendly by reducing aircraft positioning and cargo loading costs.
