BOMBARDIER CHALLENGER 850

  • Passengers 15

The Bombardier Challenger 850 is one of the largest, most productive and comfortable corporate private jets. The aircraft has the same size cabin as a Global 6000 but the hourly cost, range and flexibility of a much smaller jet.

About this aircraft

  • The Challenger 850 is derived from the CRJ200 airliner. Bombardier began delivering the jet in 2006.
  • The aircraft can hold up to 30 passengers, but normally features an executive seating layout for up to 15 people. An extra passenger can be seated in the enclosed lavatory if needed.
  • The Challenger 850 can fly between London and Québec, Dubai and Bangkok, and Beijing and Mumbai.
  • Its baggage compartment holds around 20 suitcases, allowing for at least one per person in the executive seating layout.
  • With customisable interiors and seats that can be modified into beds, the Challenger 850 is perfect for both daytime and nighttime long-haul flights.
  • Production of the aircraft ended in 2012 following over 70 deliveries.

Comfortably seating up to 15 passengers and two crew, the Challenger 850 is ideal for long-distance travel. The jet’s impressive range means it can complete non-stop international flights quickly and cost-effectively, making it a popular choice to charter.

Interior design

Offering plenty of leg space and headroom, the Challenger 850’s spacious cabin can be adapted to passengers’ specific needs with customised interiors and a range of layouts. Business-friendly onboard amenities include a baseline satellite communication telephone system and internet connectivity.

The cabin also features in-flight mapping, digital cabin entertainment, touch-screen controls, LCD displays, a redesigned galley, forward and aft lavatories, and LED lighting.

History

The Challenger 850 was announced in 2003 as a rebrand of Canadair’s CRJ200 regional airliner. Bombardier’s largest constructed aircraft at the time was designed to maintain the CRJ200’s large cabin space and wingspan whilst offering the comfort and luxury of a business jet. It was first delivered in 2006 before production ceased in 2012.
