Rodríguez Ballón International Airport acts as the main gateway for tourists visiting nearby Inca ruins and the Colca Cayon, the second deepest in the world. This airport serves Arequipam the second largest city in Peru. The airport has a single paved runway stretching 9,711 feet and a single terminal building. Volcanoes surround the airport to the north and east. Rodríguez Ballón International Airport has undergone a number of improvements in an attempt to modernise the airport, including the addition of two jebridges and an expansion to the terminal building.
