In April 2019, a production company asked Air Charter Service to transport a group of film talent from Los Angeles to San Diego, where they were due to appear at the annual Comic-Con International convention.

The group also needed to return to L.A. later on the same day. With the local terminal in high demand during the popular event and passengers’ timings subject to last-minute changes if their press commitments overran, we needed to plan a flexible charter and be on-hand to quickly overcome any logistical obstacles that arose.

Our Solution

Route: Los Angeles > San Diego > Los Angeles

Aircraft: Three Embraer 135s

Our experienced team chartered three Embraer 135s and split the 55 passengers between them, staggering each groups’ departure and arrival times to minimise waiting times in the unusually busy terminals. We also further simplified their boarding process with a Part 135 licence, which allowed the passengers’ cars to drop them right at the aircraft steps to board their flights.

We arranged for an ACS rep to travel on each aircraft, including the client’s dedicated account manager. With only a 20-minute window for each group to board their return flight on arrival at the airport, our reps held regular briefings and were able to quickly handle enquiries and make last- minute changes to passenger names and departure times.

The Finer Details

Flexible Solution: We added some of the client’s management team onto the final charter’s passenger list at no extra cost when their commercial flight was delayed. We also managed to delay one flight by two hours when some of the passengers needed to stay at the event longer than planned, switching any early arrivals onto an earlier flight.

Personalised Service: Our knowledgeable team worked with a high-end local farm-to-table restaurant and arranged for a bespoke deli box to be served onboard each flight, ensuring that suitable options were available on all three aircraft for any passengers with specific dietary requirements.
