Shanghai Disneyland

Set to open on the 16th of June 2016, Disney fans around the world are keen to gain an insight into the latest addition to the Disneyland Resorts, Shanghai Disneyland.

If you know a wannabe Disney princess or prince, or are simply a child at heart, why not charter a private jet and see the newest addition to the Disney portfolio yourself.

The concept of a new park was first introduced in 2001, after the success of Hong Kong Disneyland, and the plan was to continue expanding into Asia, bringing Disney magic to as many of its Asian customers as possible. With this in mind, The Walt Disney Company decided its next Asian location should be in Mainland China and so, on the 16th of June 2016, are opening the 6th Disneyland in Pudong, Shanghai.

The park itself will be modelled after the iconic Magic Kingdom Park found at the Walt Disney World Resort in Florida, and, like all of the previous Magic Kingdom Parks, will be divided into several ‘Lands’, each built with distinct features themed after different types of story genres; both modern and classic. Like the other five parks it will, of course, feature Fantasyland and the iconic Enchanted Storybook Castle, built to look like Cinderella’s castle from the 1950’s film. In this case it will be the largest castle to have been built in a Disney park and will be the first to feature an actual ride inside the castle itself.

Princess lovers will be captivated with Fantasyland, the storybook-like land where kids can take a journey through classic Disney scenes on the ‘Voyage to Crystal the Grotto.’ Here passengers will be taken by boat inside of the castle, through scenes from Beauty and the Beast, Tangled, Aladdin, Mulan, Fantasia, and The Little Mermaid. Fantasyland will also feature attractions like Peter Pan’s flight, Alice in Wonderland’s Teacup rides, as well as a stage show where the princesses’ tales will be retold, with an opportunity to meet the princesses themselves afterwards.

One of the main sections of the new park is a group of gardens known as the ’Gardens of Imagination’, a unique section found only at Shanghai Disneyland. The gardens can be found in front of the Enchanted Storybook Castle, and are designed to look like traditional Chinese gardens. Whilst the gardens are new, there’s still plenty for fans of the Classic Disney rides in the Gardens of Imagination as you’ll find both the Dumbo the Flying Elephant ride, and Fantasia Carousel located here. There’s also a meet and greet point where guests can come say hi to Mickey and his friends in person. This includes his new friends at Marvel, including Iron Man, Captain America and Black Widow, along with their friends and foes.

For adventure seekers, Adventure Isle is Shanghai Disneyland’s version of the classic Adventureland. Here you’ll find characters from some of Disney’s most epic stories such as Tarzan, and The Lion King. Explorers can venture through the Camp Discovery walking trail, or ride the Roaring Rapids. But bear in mind, should you choose to navigate the rapids, keep an eye out for the crocodile-like creature known as Q’aráq who has been known to roam the deserted caves nearby. Treasure Cove is another new addition to Disney’s areas, and can also be found in Adventure Isle. Based on the Disney trilogy, Pirates of the Caribbean, here, pirate wannabes can dine in harbour-style breweries and restaurants, reminiscent of those found in a colonial Caribbean town. They can also meet Captain Jack Sparrow and friends on the popular Pirates of the Caribbean ride.

The most anticipated section of the park is Tomorrowland, which will have a more modern look to it in comparison to the other Tomorrowlands. It will also be home to the new Tron Light Cycle Power Run attraction, which is based on the 2010 film, Tron: Legacy, and will also be the fastest rollercoaster in any of the Disney parks. Tomorrowland will also be home to Buzz Lightyear’s ride, another popular attraction in both the American parks, and Disneyland Paris, where guests are transported into a live video game to battle each other to defeat Buzz’s nemesis, Zurg.

By the end of your trip be sure to have visited Avenue M Arcade, located on Mickey’s Avenue at the entrance, as this is the best place to find a souvenir. It’s the largest gift shop in the park, and you can find Disney mementos exclusive to Shanghai Disney here as well as clothing and merchandise featuring all of your favourite Disney characters, including Mickey and Minnie, who will be wearing traditional Chinese costumes. Another exclusive memento is the ‘Cute Couples’ collection, which consists of matching attire designed for couples. These include matching Daisy and Donald, Minnie and Mickey and Chip and Dale backpacks, hats and phone cases.

If you’re looking for somewhere to stay, the resort will also have two hotels; the Disneyland Hotel and the Toy Story Hotel. The resort will also include a Disney town, an entertainment district where you can find different types of restaurants and entertainment activities, including a cinema and more opportunities to meet your favourite Disney characters.

So, if you fancy exploring the new Disneyland Shanghai in style, why not give our concierge a call, and charter a private jet to Disneyland?
