“Taking place at WeWork’s Chancery Lane location, CultureCatalyst explores how art and objects can generate inspiration and amplify motivation within the work space. CultureCatalyst features work from the world’s most iconic contemporary artists, such as Lucian Freud, Gavin Turk and Roy Lichtenstein, as well as established and emerging contemporary artists, such as Lauren Baker, Rupert Newman, Dan Rawlings and Storm Thogerson. A site-specific exhibition will feature photography, projections, prints, sculpture and art-infused furniture that have been selected by curators Aretha Campbell and Lucy Baxter.”

Rodin & Dance: The Essence of Movement

This large exhibition will showcase the work of Auguste Rodin, the 18th Century French artist recognised as the founder of modern sculpture. The exhibition will highlight his long standing fascination with dancers and their bodies, with a series of small scale sculptures known as the Dance Movements. These sculptures were found in his studio after his death, and reveal his fascination with gymnastic-style poses.

“For the first time in its history, Reading Prison will open to the public to host this extraordinary Oscar Wilde project. Oscar Wilde was incarcerated at Reading Prison between 1895 and 1897, which led to his last great works; De Profundis, which is an extended letter to his lover Lord Alfred Douglas which Wilde wrote in his prison cell, and The Ballad of Reading Gaol, poems which he wrote in exile after his release from Reading Prison. Some of the most remarkable and radical artists, writers and performers of our time will respond to Wilde’s work, the prison’s architecture and themes of imprisonment and separation.”

“Visitors to Reading can listen to Ralph Fiennes, Ragnar Kjartansson or Patti Smith reading Wilde’s De Profundis from the prison chapel or see artworks by Marlene Dumas, Wolfgang Tillmans or Nan Goldin displayed throughout the jail. Other artists featuring in the exhibition are Ai Weiwei, Steve McQueen and Maxine Peake showing installations, writing, photography, video work and more.”

Stubbs and the Wild

This exhibition includes the paintings and drawings of the acclaimed English artist George Stubbs, best known for his paintings of horses. Known for his incredibly realistic technique, Stubbs also painted an array of exotic and domestic animals. This exhibition showcases his exquisite paintings and drawings of wild animals in celebration of 100 years since the re-establishment of the Holburne Museum in Sydney Gardens.

Art & Design from 1860 at Cheffins

“This sale, featuring work from 1860 to the present, will include numerous pieces of furniture, metal wares, sculpture and ceramics by the likes of English sculptor John Maltby (c.1936). His rare Maltby cider flagon is available, with only one other known to exist. These unique flagons are well-known for their stoneware base, with this piece estimated at £500-800. The sale will also feature exquisite bronze by Claire Jeanne Roberts Colinet (French 1880-1950). ‘The Magic Links’ will be available, an art deco bronze, c.1925, estimated at £3,000-5,000.”

Fine art series at Lyon and Turnbull

“Established in Edinburgh in 1826, Lyon & Turnbull are Scotland's oldest firm of auctioneers, they will be holding a series of fine art auctions including fine antiques, decorative art, jewellery and silver, and Asian art. In their fine furniture sale on the 28th September there is a collection of automata that belonged to musician Roger Daltrey, titled ‘Guy in the Moon’ by Leopold Lambert valued at £12,000-18,000 and a ‘Woman Drinking Tea’ by Gustave Vichy, circa 1890 valued at £10,000-15,000.”

“Highlights in the decorative arts sale on the 12th October include a group of five rare ceramic tiles designed by Walter Crane for Pilkington’s Tile & Pottery valued at £1,000-1,500. On the 26th October in their jewellery and silver sale they have a collection of Scottish provincial silver which includes quaichs, teapots and plates from all the main provincial towns in Scotland.”

Islamic & Indian Arts featuring Modern & Contemporary Indian Art at Roseberys

“Roseberys London are delighted to be offering a selection of Islamic and Indian Arts, including some lovely glass pieces made in Europe for the Islamic market in the 19th century and some beautiful Indian silver. There are also several pieces from the collection of F.R. Martin, a Swedish archaeologist who was one of the first scholars to write extensively about Islamic art. There are also some good company school paintings, good quality Indian miniatures of the 17th and 18th century, and an impressive large Mecca tile from Turkey.
